We knew that Julius Gilbert was living in Albany, Georgia in the early 1900s and so we searched the 1900 Census and discovered that Julius was 45 years old at the time of the Census. His wife was Alice, age 42, and they had two children, a daughter Madelyn, age 14, and a son Forest, age 13. The family was living on Broad Street.
Next we went to NewspaperArchive to search its historical newspaper collection. We first searched for "julius gilbert" for the years between 1920 and 1930 and further limited the search to newspapers that were located in the state of Georgia. The search returned no results.
So we then tried another search of the historical newspapers but this time limited the EXACT search to gilbert and then moved julius as a word to INCLUDE in the search. The rest of the search was the same as the first but this time we received 22 results or hits.
We elected to display 30 results per page - each result highlighted gilbert and julius since they were the 2 keywords. Each search result contained an excerpt of the text surrounding the keywords in the newspaper articles and there were about 5 summary lines shown for each result.
We quickly skimmed through the search results and discovered 2 references to Julius Gilbert in The Atlanta Constitution on November 24, 1924. One was an an obituary and the other was a death notice in the Mortuary section of the newspaper.
We discovered from the death notice that Julius Gilbert, 70, had died on Sunday morning (November 23rd) at his residence. He was survived by his wife Alice, daughter Mrs. S. A. Freeman, son Forrest T. Gilbert and two sisters, Mrs. James Tift and Mrs. Fannie Allsman.
We learned from the obituary that he was also survived by 2 grandchildren, Sam and Alice Freeman and that his widow was the daughter of Judge R. P. Trippe a justice of the state supreme court.
There are no Visitor Search Tips at this time.

The United States Federal Census for the year 1900 is a good place to look for birth date information because this census also provides the month of birth. The other US Census years provide an age or year of birth but not the month of birth.
Assuming there is no index - If you know the month and year of birth you might then be able to find a birth announcement that was printed in a local newspaper at the time of your ancestor's birth. Just browse through a copy of the newspaper for each day of the month online or with a microfilm reader.
